Looking for a great place to pick up
a quick but relaxing lunch? Do you like authentic Greek food?
Christakis is a small Greek restaurant that makes a big impression. The menu at
Christakis is entirely Greek food; there are no burgers. The interior gives a warm
feeling with lots of plants and Greek items hanging on the walls. If weather
permits, they have patio seating with large table umbrellas for shade. Service comes
with the traditional Greek hospitality one comes to expect when eating at an authentic
Greek restaurant.
The appetizers include all your Greek favorites: Saganaki (the flamed Greek chesse),
Avgolemono Soup, Tzatziki, Spanakopita, etc.
The Christakis Specialties include the Gyro, Souvlaki, Mousaka, Lamb Shank and a
Pikilia that has a great assortment of the appetizers.
Salads include the Greek Salad, Villager's Salad, and an interesting Mykonos salad with
chicken Gyro served on a bed of mixed greens.
The pastas include Vegetarian, Pastitsio, Macaronada and a shrimp pasta.
Prices are reasonable, ranging from $5.25 for the Gyro to $8.95 for the Lamb Shank and
$9.95 for the Macedonian Shrimp Pasta. Most items are in the $5.95 to $6.95 range.
I had the Macaronada, which was very filling. (This should tell you that I ate it
all, and that it was really good.) Others in my party had the Lamb and the Mykonos
salad, both of which were completely gone at the end of the meal. We had a good size
portion of galactobouriko for desert.
My only complaint is about something that Christakis cannot do much about:
parking. Christakis Greek Cuisine in located in a small shopping center which
doesn't have enough parking in front, and the parkign around the rear is sectioned off by
another restaurant which offers valet parking for a fee. If you're going to lunch,
go early.
